Classrooms:
Our
mixed-age program enhances social development and
promotes leadership and thinking skills for preschool
children. We believe children learn through their
play and that by offering them the appropriate areas,
activities and materials they will continue to grow
and develop. We offer a print rich environment that
provides the child an opportunity to experience exposure
to whole language as they become familiar with letters
and numbers.
All
our learning centers are available on a daily basis
for choice and independence skills.
- Music
and Movement: Active and quiet activities promote
listening and communication skills.
- Art
and Drama: Creativity is enhanced when choices
are offered to "make and pretend."
- Block
Play: Enhances mathematical problem solving
and communication skills.
- Science
and Discovery: Offers exploration of and experimentation
with nature and everyday objects.
- Small
Manipulatives: Counting,
classifying and eye-hand coordination are strengthened
with puzzles, games and lacing
materials.
- Sand/Water
Play: Encourages problem solving, creative thinking
and measuring skills.
- Book/Writing
Area: Promotes language and literacy development
while offering an opportunity for solitude.
Each
child's learning style is recognized, respected and
nurtured. Our program does not push a child into academics.
We promote communication skills, understanding our
feelings, problem solving, decision making and independence
skills. When a child has mastered these areas, they
are ready for learning academics.
We
do not prepare children for school; however, the skills
they acquire and the challenges they master are very
beneficial to the upcoming school experience.
